About Gill
Gill’s love of art began early, growing up in Maidenhead with a passion for creativity that never quite faded — even when it wasn’t fully encouraged by teachers or tutors. She went on to study Art History, a choice that deepened her appreciation for the subject, even if her own artistic practice took a back seat for many years while she focused on her career and family life.
More than thirty years ago, Gill moved to the New Forest, where she raised two daughters and became an active part of the local community — taking part in craft fairs, art groups, and workshops. Always making and painting for friends and family, she quietly nurtured her creative spark until, in recent years, it reignited fully.
In the past five years, Gill has returned to her artistic roots, creating and selling her distinctive mix of ceramics and paintings. Her journey is a testament to the idea that creativity never truly leaves us — it simply waits for the right moment to flourish again.
Inspiration
For Gill, making ceramics and painting isn't just a hobby - it's an escape from day-to-day life. Each piece she creates is a quiet moment of focus and joy, made even more rewarding when others connect with and enjoy her work.
She loves the buzz of local craft fairs, where creativity and community come together. Whether she's chatting with visitors about her latest designs, admiring the work of fellow makers, or sharing a laugh over a quirky "Christmas Slug", these events are a highlight of her creative life.
Since setting up her own kiln at home, Gill's artistry has truly flourished. No matter the season, you'll find her in her studio (also known as the living room) - hands in clay, ideas flowing, and preparations underway for the next fair or collection.
